The Summer Buying Season is a six-month period of increased heat, humidity and hurricane possibilities that stretches from May through October that historically results in fewer out-of-town buyers, marque events and crowded restaurants.
Unlike recent years, this South Florida Summer Buying Season is shaping up to be one of the most tumultuous since the start of the pandemic in 2020.
Nationally, the U.S. economy is wobbling as the global trade system is being restructured as a result of President Donald Trump’s Liberation Day tariffs of a minimum of 10 percent on U.S. imports were imposed on the world on April 2, 2025.
Amidst the uncertainty in the global stock, bond and currency markets, the South Florida condo market is being affected by:
Record-high unit prices;
Costly mortgage rates;
Sizable maintenance fees;
Hefty special assessments;
Expensive insurance rates;
And recession and or stagflation fears.
